Walkie-Talkie feature was introduced in a watchOS 5 for Apple Watch. It quickly became very popular as this option was called one of the headline features in the new OS. A new option allows users to speak with each other in a crowded place like a market or the university. But here is a problem: a lot of users complain about Walkie-Talkie doesn’t work as it should. If you face this issue, do not worry! Our team prepared several ways to help you overcome the problem. Let’s start!
Check Your Updates
One of the most common mistakes of many people is that they do not install updates as soon as they come out. It seems a very obvious mistake but it is true. For example, do you know that in July 2019, Apple disabled Walkie-Talkie on all software versions that have less than watchOS 5.2 and iOS 12.3.2 operating system? It was connected to security and privacy concerns. Therefore, you need to have the updated iOS 12.4 and watchOS 5.3 or above. By the way, on their release statement, the developers said that a new watchOS 5.3 “provides important security updates including a fix for the Walkie-Talkie app”.
To update your mobile phone go to Settings → General → Software Update. Here you can check a current version of your iOS system and update the software. To update Apple Watch, you need to go to the same app and choose General → Software Update. One thing, it is important your watch has at least 50% battery, otherwise, the updates will not be installed.
Walkie-Talkie feature relies on the work of FaceTime. Therefore, you need to check this app too in case of problems with Walkie-Talkie. Remember, that FaceTime does not work in a number of countries, therefore if you try to use Walkie-Talkie from the place where FaceTime is unavailable, obviously, that it will not launch. Other common mistakes:
Be sure that you are signed-in with the same Apple ID as your watch;
You have verified FaceTime previously;
You have checked the work of FaceTime.
Check the Device Pairing
Sometimes, people can’t use Walkie-Talkie because the devices are not paired properly. It is very easy to check if your devices have a connection with each other. Look at your Apple Watch. Do you see a small green iPhone sign? If yes, all is right. If no, you have problems. Try to restart the phone and watch, and then. Reconnect.
If you have some problems with Walkie-Talkie, do not panic! Sometimes, the problems are very obvious and simple. Have you ever been faced something like that? Share with us in the comments below.
